Yesterday we said ‘Auf Wiedersehen’ to Anka Fehling, German language advisor with the ZfA (Central Agency for German Schools Abroad) in Chicago. Ms. Fehling has championed our cause with the German Federal Foreign Office since we became a school officially in 2014.
Her support was instrumental in receiving foundational grants from the German government and in getting recognized as a school authorized to administer standardized German language tests.
She also provided teacher training opportunities and visited us regularly for informational sessions and planning meetings. We are enormously grateful for her support and her can-do attitude! (Ms. Fehling will move back to Germany in the summer, a successor will be appointed soon.)
As part of her good-bye visit, Ms. Fehling delivered the A1 certificates for our DaF students, who took the exam this spring. All students passed the exam and can now claim officially that they can participate in simple everyday conversations in German. Congrats to all students and to their teacher, Chris Tabisz.
